First Chapter, First Paragraph Tuesday

First Chapter, First Paragraph Tuesday Intros. is hosted by I'd Rather Be at the Beach. and is all about sharing the first paragraph or two from a book you are about to read.

This week, I'm delving into the world of nonfiction.  I love reading about unsolved mysteries.  Not necessarily crimes, but more stories of the unexplained.  I find them to be so interesting and I enjoy contemplating all of the different theories about what actually happened.

My First Chapter, First Paragraph Intro:

For as long as he lived, George Spicer was haunted by the sight of a worried woman running along the Nova Scotia Shore.

It was a summer morning in June of 1861, when Spicer was just a teenager with dreams of going to sea.  He had been aboard a skiff sailing into Economy, a small fishing village shrouded by Acadian pines on the Minas Channel.  In the town, locals watched the world's most powerful tides rise and fall as much as fifty-three feet in a matter of hours--a surge that impressed upon them a healthy respect for the sea.  The ocean provided a life for many of them, and they knew it could just as easily take one away.  And as the tide often did, on that morning George Spicer was carrying bad news.

Would you keep reading?  I'm enjoying it.  :)

It's Monday, What Are You Reading?

It's Monday! What Are You Reading? is hosted by Book Date and is a place to meet up and share what you have been, are and plan to be reading over the next week. It's a great post to organize yourself. It's also an opportunity to visit other book bloggers, comment, and add to that ever growing TBR pile! Also, it is one of my favorite link ups because I get to spend hours browsing everyone else titles...

Just Finished:
The last week was a great one for reading.  I finished three books.  This rarely happens since I work full time and have two kids.  I felt so accomplished! Lol.

Friends and Other Liars was given to me in exchange for an honest review.  I don't do a lot of this since I don't have much extra time but the summary of this one was interesting and I did really enjoy it!  The Convent's Secret is the fifth book in the Glass and Steele series and I've loved every book so far.  I can't wait for the next one!  Finally, I had Ready Player One on my TBR forever and it took the movie trailer to get me moving.  Wow!  Such a great book.  Don't miss it if you are a lover of all things 80's.

What I'm Reading Now:

I just started both of these.  A Treacherous Curse is the third book in the Veronica Speedwell series.  So good!  I am not a huge nonfiction reader but I do love some of the legends/unsolved mysteries genre.  Ghost Ship sounded interesting so I grabbed it.

What will I read next?
Not sure.  I have a few at the top of my TBR so I will probably choose from these.

Have a great reading week!
